Meet Kelsey
We have a new on-site Trainer-Instructor, Kelsey Harrington. Kelsey comes to Hilltop after years of work as an Assistant Trainer to some of the biggest names in the Paint and Quarter Horse worlds, but don't for a minute think that she is limited to stock horses. Kelsey believes that every rider, from novice to expert has something to teach her about horses and their relationship to their humans.

She brings with her energy, enthusiasm and a fascination with the workings of the equine mind. Just today I was frustrated and asked her what I was doing wrong in communicating with my horse. Kelsey said, "Sometimes you have to go back to asking questions that they already know the answer to. If you asked me to solve a complex chemistry problem right now, I wouldn't be able to. If you asked again, I still wouldn't know the answer. If you asked a thousand times, I wouldn't know, but I'd get frustrated. If you kicked me or hit me or beat me, as some misguided folks might do, I still wouldn't know. But if, instead, you asked me something I already knew, and worked again from there, I'd be relaxed and confident and might get to that chemistry problem later. And remember that not all horses are built for all things in their minds or bodies."

Kelsey trains horses and humans, and watches over the herd at our horse-centric facility minutes from downtown Asheville.
